The GANIL (French acronym for "Large national heavy ion accelerator") site à is a research centre situated in the municipalities of Epron, Hérouville-Saint-Clair and Caen. This laboratory for fundamental and applied research into atomic physics, nuclear physics and physics of condensed matter is designed to produce and accelerate heavy ions.
